Forest School Sessions
The Great outdoors is a rich resource for learning and it's for this reasont hat we have developed a Forest School. We realise that children nowadays do not recessarily have the same experiences of nature as people have done in that past. Playing with friends outdoors, observing wildlife, building dens and using their imaginations.
Team members, Kate Longley, Carolyn borthwick and Michaela Whiting have undergone Level 3 Forest School training so that the children at Battle Pre-School can enjoy the outdoor benefits our setting has to offer.
We have always embraced the great outdoors with our large garden and covered areas, and Forest School enables us to offer further opportunities to inspire imagination and curiosity.
Children can enjoy:
- Shelter building
- Whittling
- Bug hunting
- scent trails
and many more activities within a controlled and safe environment. They will have the opportunity to use real tools and experience sitting around a real campfire. This is a dynamic approach to learning where confidence in the outdoor is built, leading to a life-long relationship with natural spaces.
Parents comments:
"it's a great way for children to learn about nature for real rather than just through books and pictures"
"it's excellent that the Pre-School provides them with warm waterproof clothing"
"There is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing"
At Battle Pre-School we provide all the children with warm waterproof suits and have a 'whatever the weather' approach.
The staff have found that since the introduction of Forest School the children have become more familiar and relaxed in the environment, exploring, getting muddy and enjoying the amazing nature on our doorstep.
